Sunday we leave on a family vacation. We have chosen to go to the “Happiest Place on Earth”. So I have chosen to represent Disneyland with the most well known song ever!!

I am a planner. I like things figured out, taken care of and done so that I can move on. This pretty much describes alot of aspects of my life. Bill Paying, Grocery Shopping List, Nail Appointments, Work, etc. You get the idea.
I was informed the other day that I need to learn how to “Fly by The Seat of My Pants”. That made me think that I wasn’t spontaneous. So I decided to look up the word and refresh my memory….You all know how much I love dictionaries.
Spontaneous-
| 1. | coming or resulting from a natural impulse or tendency; without effort or premeditation; natural and unconstrained; unplanned: a spontaneous burst of applause. |
| 2. | (of a person) given to acting upon sudden impulses. |
Well After reading that I must admit that over all I am NOT Spontaneous. I don’t give in to my “Sudden Impulses” anymore.
I use to, when I was younger. Why I remember a girlfriend and I at 17 left our house at 1am and decided to go to Tahoe. Just a 5 hour drive. Luckily we had her boyfriend and his brother with us. It was Labor Day weekend. This was back in the day of no cell phones. We did leave a note for our parents that we had left and would be back. I had a blast that weekend, I was Spontaneous. I was also in TROUBLE!
Now in my forties I have a tendancy to get trips planned out. Request time off of work, Flights booked as soon as they go on sale, Hotels reserved, rental cars or transfers reserved and paid for. I usually do this all about 5-6 months before the trip. But once all of that stuff is planned I relax and have a blast. I love to go…I think I am a pretty easy guest. I don’t require 24 hours of entertainment. I also enjoy being alone.
After analyzing the definition and looking at my habits for the last 10 years or so, I have a response to my friend….
I DO FLY BY THE SEAT OF MY PANTS….I JUST PLAN IT OUT 3 OR 4 MONTHS IN ADVANCE.

Today I attended a church I have never visited before. It is called The River. They meet 10:30 Sunday Mornings, at 1842 Keystone Court in Redding. It has such a nice feel to it. I loved being there. I felt very welcome. They have a wonderful sense of family.
I had a purpose for going to The River today. I have been trying to meet Brandon & Kristen Buchanan and Brent & Tam Hodge for awhile. The “Buchanan Bunch” actually live right here in Redding, The River is their church home. The “Hodge Clan” is from Grand Point, Oregon. The Hodge Clan had travelled down to do Worship with Brandon and Kristen. The Hodge Clan includes Brent, Tam, Kass their daughter, she played guitar and sang and Kota, their son he played the drums. It was amazing!

When you hear these amazing artists play, harmonize and worship together it is hard to believe that they have only been together a few times in the last couple months. When Tam sang Unrelenting Love it brought tears to my eyes. Kristen sang I’m So Glad at the very end of the service and it gave me goosebumps.
Now following this was an amazing message by Pastor Brian Nickens. Since this was my first time attending The River I had no idea what to expect. I was seriously not disappointed by His message. His heart for the Lord was so evident when he prayed before starting. Then spoke a message on Psalm 16. Line by Line, Verse by Verse. I love this form of message because it gives me an opportunity to really sink into the word as we are intended to do.
I don’t normally attend The River; I am a partner at a different church. I also am a prayer volunteer for a Global Church. I would seriously recommend The River to any Christian that wants to hear Amazing Worship and Biblically sound messages. If you attend a big church and feel lost in it….Try The River. It is a wonderfully intimate setting. Some people may think I am crazy for telling them to go to a church I don’t normally attend. I personally agree with Craig Groeschel when he says…
Satan Loves for churches to COMPETE against each other….God Loves for churches to COMPLETE one another. I will be back at the River. I know this from the bottom of my heart. I heard God speak to me there. I listened to His human angels worship him beautifully. Thank You for making me feel so Welcomed!
This week we are suppose to write about ourselves in the third person. I have never done this before so forgive me if I am lame.
Theresa is a woman, wife, mom and a fraidy cat of spiders. She squeals for her husband to come and “Take Care” of them. She has been diligently learning patience with her teenagers.
Theresa is not a caregiver but has been acting like one for awhile now. She feels inadaquate at this role but continues to tackle it.
Theresa is highly organized. She drives her family and friends crazy when she has something to plan. Once all the details are in place she can relax and be fun.
Theresa most importantly loves the Lord. She spends time with him every day and tries to introduce him to all her friends.

On a side note. I really want to thank you all for your prayers as we have been dealing with the loss of Mel. The kids are adjusting and Craig is painting (His chosen coping method) . I feel numb at times but happy for Mel. He is at peace and whole, up with our Heavenly Father.
We headed out of town this last weekend and went to see my Mom. This seemed to really take some of the gloom off us all. I will post about our trip and include some pictures soon.

I received two gifts Friday evening.
The first one was that my daughter, Hope, came home from a trip. Hope had left Wednesay morning while it was still dark out. She is in 8th grade and is a student in AVID. AVID is an acronym that stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. This program is an in-school academic support program for grades 4-12 that prepares students for college eligibility and success. She spent 3 days touring universities and colleges. She came home excited, wanting to go to college. Anything that motivates her to do well in life I am all for.
The second gift I received was from Hope. She brought me the shells in the picture. Hope went walking on the beach in Santa Cruz instead of spending all of her time in the arcade at the Boardwalk. I love shells, I grew up in Santa Cruz. My teen years were spent at the beach and the cliffs of Santa Cruz. We had sent her with some money for food and stuff. I had asked her to not buy us anything but to use her money for food. When she got home she gave me my shells and then apologized that she didn’t buy me anything else.
She brought me the best presents ever. She brought me a beautiful Daughter that is interested in College. Then while away she took the time to walk the beach that I use to walk when I was her age and she gathered me shells.
I am one Happy Mom!!!
