I was looking up ATTACK SCRIPTURE today….You know…
Attack Scripture is when you tear through the Bible to find that one scripture that will prove YOUR point right. “The Blessed Word of God” says…..So I must be right. See it is in writing right there….BLAH BLAH BLAH
I realized as I was doing this that I wasn’t bringing glory to God. I was puffing myself up. I was trying to show someone that I knew more scripture then they did. I stopped dead in my shuffling of the pages. Shocked, Upset, Irritated with….MYSELF! Flesh really sucks.
Anybody else catch themselves using Attack Scripture?
They say that “confession is good for the soul” and if not then it has also been said “the truth will set you free.” I have been guilty of seeking out “attack Scripture” every now and then. UGH!
My son, the household cynic, is never shy about letting me know when I am throwing Scriptures like balls in a carnival throwing contest. Yep. He always tells me when I am acting like a clown.
Of course, the Holy Spirit usually gets to me first.
Guess I have some growing up to do!

Too funny! Flesh really sucks. I totally agree … it’s so dismaying when I discover I’m acting in the flesh.
I never thought of scripture being used to attack someone! The bible does say to be ready with an answer when ASKED …

Ish! I have done that too! And I’ve also done it on the defense, when I realize that I could’ve used a specific verse in a conversation, but I didnt know where it was at the time, so I go home and search it out to then bring it to their attention. Gross!!!!
