What’s On Your Mind ’09? – Photo of the Month
This picture was taken as I stood in the Pearl Habor Monument.

We are suppose to do creative writing with our picture. I just have a question?
What, if anything, do these pictures make you feel?

When I looked at those pictures, I felt loss and pride.
Loss, because even though I didn’t know those men who died in the attack, I grieve for all that might have been. How many of them were budding artists, writers, scientists, etc., that could have enriched our lives had they had the chance to live and reach their potential. How many of them were fathers who could have gone on to make a difference in the life of their families? Only God knows what we lost that terrible day.
I also feel pride that they were willing to lay their lives on the line for freedom. I hope and pray that it will never be in vain.
Wow! I’m humbled and in awe. Beautiful!
My grandpa was at Pearl Harbor (he was a survivor), and he never talked about it to anyone, not even my dad (his son). It makes me feel sad, but also a loss of a part of my grandpa, that he was never fully healed from the experience. I want to go there someday!
