What’s On Your Mind ‘09 has been on a summer break.  It is great that Shane at Hearts Reflections has decided to continue hosting us.  This weeks Topic is….

Why Do You Write?

This is one of the harder topics that we have covered.  I don’t consider myself a writer.  I am a talker.  I started my blog so that when I left comments on others blogs, they would have a place to go to see who I was.  It was never my intention to actually write on a regular basis.

Then I was drawn in.  I felt the opening of a community that just a few short years ago would have been closed off due to lack of technology.  I started reading more blogs, being in contact with more people.  I had new people in my life that were pouring their faith, love, prayers and honesty into me.  They were making a deposit into my spirituality and life.  How do you not reciprocate to the best of your abilities?  So I wrote.

Lately, I have only been posting once every couple of weeks.  I have been listening instead of talking.  I have been re-evaluating what my purpose in this world of social media is…..God pointed out to me that my motives for participating in Blogs, Twitter, Facebook may be all about the numbers.  The number of followers I have, the number of people I am following, my Google Reader…All of this stuff that when it is used as a tool and not a lifestyle are great.

So I have pared down. I have devoted myself to controlling my social media time instead of it controlling me.  I have made a commitment to a couple of projects that I will write for.  I love this MEME and plan on participating in it.  I will update my blog when I get to it…And I refuse to stress about what to write!

So in answer to the question….. Why Do I Write? I write to try and be an Encouragement to Others, To get feedback on a number of different subject and because sometimes I actually have something to say.  Scary I know!

To read the reasons that other amazing women write….Please head over to Hearts Reflections!

A Different Kind of Wild
Is Your Faith TOO Tame?
By Debbie Alsdorf
Published By Revell/Baker Publishing

This book is broken apart into 3 parts.
Part I – Developing: Growing Up Spiritually
Part II – Daring: Living by a Different Standard
Part III – Determinded: Finding Courage to Follow a New Path

I really enjoyed this book. The Author moved me from Developing into Daring easily and then when I reached Part III, I was ready to be Determining. I found that each chapter was very well written and easy to read. I enjoyed the format of this book. At the end of each Chapter, Debbie Alsdorf recaps with the following headings: Look Up, Pray Up, Live Up. She also includes Questions for Reflection.

Another nice feature of this book is that it includes the Study Guide. This makes this book attractive for group Bible Studies. It is nice to have all of the resourses you need in one book, that with your Bible completes the study. For the cost of the book you can’t go wrong. As I did the study guide portion of this book I felt wholly included in Becoming a WILD Woman – WILD meaning Women In Lifelong Development.

I truly feel that no matter where you are in your walk with the Lord that this book has important messages for us all to learn. I recommend this book to all women. I am blessed to have this book in my library.

the-river-lcf-001Today I attended a church I have never visited before. It is called The River. They meet 10:30 Sunday Mornings, at 1842 Keystone Court in Redding. It has such a nice feel to it. I loved being there. I felt very welcome. They have a wonderful sense of family.

I had a purpose for going to The River today. I have been trying to meet Brandon & Kristen Buchanan and Brent & Tam Hodge for awhile. The “Buchanan Bunch” actually live right here in Redding, The River is their church home. The “Hodge Clan” is from Grand Point, Oregon. The Hodge Clan had travelled down to do Worship with Brandon and Kristen. The Hodge Clan includes Brent, Tam, Kass their daughter, she played guitar and sang and Kota, their son he played the drums. It was amazing!

Pictured- Kass, Kota (kind of), Tam, Kristen, Brent and Brandon. Here is the list of songs that were sung:

-Great Humble King
-Holy is the Lord
-I Will Overcome
-Lead Me On (A Hodge Clan Original)
-Wonderful You (Written my Kristen and Brandon)
-Unrelenting Love (Written by Tam through a Conversation she had with God)
-I’m so Glad (Solo with Kristen, Brandon playing the guitar)

When you hear these amazing artists play, harmonize and worship together it is hard to believe that they have only been together a few times in the last couple months. When Tam sang Unrelenting Love it brought tears to my eyes. Kristen sang I’m So Glad at the very end of the service and it gave me goosebumps.

Now following this was an amazing message by Pastor Brian Nickens. Since this was my first time attending The River I had no idea what to expect. I was seriously not disappointed by His message. His heart for the Lord was so evident when he prayed before starting. Then spoke a message on Psalm 16. Line by Line, Verse by Verse. I love this form of message because it gives me an opportunity to really sink into the word as we are intended to do.

I don’t normally attend The River; I am a partner at a different church. I also am a prayer volunteer for a Global Church. I would seriously recommend The River to any Christian that wants to hear Amazing Worship and Biblically sound messages. If you attend a big church and feel lost in it….Try The River. It is a wonderfully intimate setting. Some people may think I am crazy for telling them to go to a church I don’t normally attend. I personally agree with Craig Groeschel when he says…

Satan Loves for churches to COMPETE against each other….God Loves for churches to COMPLETE one another. I will be back at the River. I know this from the bottom of my heart. I heard God speak to me there. I listened to His human angels worship him beautifully. Thank You for making me feel so Welcomed!

I must admit to failure.

I was doing great.  February came and I bought size 12 jeans.  I was 4 pounds from my goal weight. I maintained it for a bit.  And Then…..

Mel died.

I deal with lose, depression, super big stress with eating.  I don’t sit on the couch and eat a gallon of Ice Cream…No I eat fried foods.  You know the kind of food I am talking about….

Deep Fired Mushrooms

Jumbo Prawns in Beer Batter

Chicken Wings

French Fries

You get the yummy picture.  All that food and me depressed and stressed!!

I admit to gaining back 25 of the 55 pounds I lost.  I admit that I just didn’t care less. But I have hit a turning point!

What you wonder…..

Well today’s high temperatures were some of the lowest highs for this time of year.  I actually put on a pair of jeans.  A pair that was so baggy at one point that Mama Meadows threatened to pull them off if I didn’t get some smaller ones.

I refuse to buy bigger pants!!  So back on to watching and journaling everything I eat and drink.

I feel yucky physically and mentally.  I do feel relief getting this off of my chest though.  Now I will be able to show some of the pictures that Joshua White took of my family and you will all be prepared for my re-fatness.  Love Ya!

This last weekend my family traveled to Medford to have our family pictures taken by Joshua white. This is the excitement I got to experience. I can not wait to see the pictures he caught of us.

I am disappointed that I didn’t get to meet some people I had hoped to. I am not sure if we are ever meant to meet. This is the second miss.

The Satisfaction was getting to meet the other Theresa. It was so fun to talk to her. I got scolded by my husband. He told me to pick what I was going to eat then I could talk. I swear that Theresa, His Life For Mine, and I have been friends for years and just didn’t know it.

I am telling you that if you have an opportunity to meet face to face with some online friends! Confirm it is safe and go for it. I haven’t been disappointed by anybody I have met yet, only by time frames.

Thank you Medford for a fun visit!!
